Caladesi is a state park open from and the beach is only reachable by private boat or ferry. You can dock your private boat at the 108 slip Marina and stay all day or overnight if you register with a ranger. Or you can take the ferry that from Honeymoon Island Or Clearwater beach. For hikers you can also walk on foot in about an hour’s time from “Clearwater Beach” if you want to make it an adventure. The ferry ride by comparison lasts 15 minutes and the time limit for the part for each person from the ferry is four hours. The beach offers chair, and kayak rentals and has a gift shop and snack bar. There is no camping in the park and pets are allowed only in designated areas and are not allowed on the ferry or on the beach. So, pets can only be carried into the park via private boat. Pets must also be on a leash not longer than six feet. There is no alcohol permitted on the beach or in the state park. Beachcombing, kayaking, shelling, fishing from a boat or right from the shore and sunbathing are all permitted and encouraged on this beautiful beach but please remember that “Live Shells” are protected by law and that includes sand dollars. There is a full playground for kids and picnic tables under palm trees and private “Picnic Pavilions” that can be rented for the day.

From Orlando: I-4 west to I-275 south to SR-60 west. Cross Courtney Campbell Causeway, and then turn right on US Hwy 19 north. Left on Curlew Rd. (SR-586). Follow SR-586, crossing Dunedin Causeway, to Honeymoon Island State Park for Caladesi ferry.
From north of Tampa: I-75 south to I-275 south to Hillsborough Ave. exit. West to slight left at Curlew Rd. (SR 586). Pass fork at SR-580. Follow SR-586, crossing Dunedin Causeway, to Honeymoon Island State Park for Caladesi ferry.
From Bradenton and South: I-75 north to I-275 north to Roosevelt Ave. exit (Follow signs for St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport, last exit before the Howard Franklin Bridge). Stay right on SR-686 west when SR-688 forks to left. Right (north) on McMullen Booth Rd. (CR-611) to cross over the Bayside Bridge. Left on Curlew Rd.
